Welcome
New design
4th June 2010
I've changed the design of my site to a new, beautiful minimal one! Completely my own work, too!
I've completely obliterated the blog for now, though, so you won't be able to comment or view older posts.

Jara 2: All the information
3rd May 2010
You may (or may not) have heard of the pending release of the new version of the Jara blogging software, named Jara 2.
The main attraction here is a total rewrite of the Jara core. It's more modular, more organized, more secure and more stable. Everything is abstracted, so all the work is done in the core and not on the frontend pages.
There a couple of redesigns of the system, too. There are two types of settings that load properly: local settings and remote settings. Local settings are loaded from a file and contain database connection details. Remote settings come from a database. The cool thing is, local settings and remote settings mix perfectly. To save some work, you could put your blog title and template in a local settings file. At any time, you could overwrite that with remote settings.
Also, posts are attributed by a user ID internally and not a username. The permissions are now more robust. Comments can be made by a logged-in user, but users don't have to have administration access to have an account. Comments are also now moderated.
There's also a new default theme called Technologic, which is a new 960px layout with a simple and grey colour scheme.
I'm planning for an alpha release around the middle of May, and the final release in the middle of June. I'll keep you updated here along the way!
You can also check out some exclusive development information on my Cloudica feed. I'd recommend signing up for Cloudica - it's got lots of features and has loads of other good points too. Sign up and subscribe to me!

Update on the projects page
27th April 2010
The projects page has been reorganized and the inactive projects have been removed. It looks a lot better now. What do you think?
(I don't usually microblog, I just feel like writing a lot of posts now)

It's time to rewrite - Jara, that is...
27th April 2010
Did you know the current Jara core was written during the period of 29th July 2009 to 1st August 2009? It's that old. I wasn't such a great programmer then. I even found a silly mistake in one of the files (see if you can find it) that wasn't fixed until recently. I think 1.6 fixes it. It doesn't stop parsing, but it might generate an E_NOTICE error.
Out with the history; in with the new. I'm totally rewriting the whole of Jara. This new system is brilliant and class-based - it's quite organized. It's easy to jump into the source, but you won't need that with powerful out-of-the-box extension support. There will be a full array of features, including all of what you can use now.
It'll be faster, more reliable and easier to use. It'll be fully proofed, checked and released in a proper cycle. Jara 1.0 to 1.5 were pretty much alpha versions; 1.6 is the first completely stable release with no bugs at all. Now, Jara 2.0 will be completely checked for bugs. There will be 5 stages: development (d after version number), alpha (a after version number), beta (b after version number), part-stable (ps after version number) and stable (no letter after version number).
Well, it's a big thing to get through. I'm expecting development, alpha, beta and part-stable during May, with the stable release at the start of June.
See you there!

First Post in a While...
20th April 2010
Hey there, this is my first post in a while. I'm sorry I haven't posted here for so long... I've been doing so much! And I can't think of anything to write either.
One product you may be asking about is Jara. The fantastic, simplistic blogging software. Jara 1.6.2 is on the way, with some cool improvements like an extensible widget (extension) system. There will be more extension types on the way, but for now you can write sidebar widgets.
Net12 has been lacking updates and posts. I'm considering shutting it down. It was more of a test for my framework of modules, which I may release a new version of publicly soon under the zlib license.
I've been reading some new PHP books and materials lately. I'm pretty much a total expert at PHP now! Hooray! I'm getting a few more books soon. I'm focusing on two things right now: scalability & performance, and extending my knowledge beyond its currently low capabilities.
BlockCommunity is doing absolutely fine, and many more users have been coming recently. We've gotten a few new staff recently.
Anyway, thanks for reading my blog. Please pass the news on! By the way, there's not much spam anymore now. Only the ones I can't really detect, such as that annoying random character spam. If anyone knows how to get it, please tell me!
